It’s so strange to realize that, out of my close group of girl friends (my only close girl friends), that I likely have the most experience with the opposite sex*. For the sake of thoroughness, I should state that the six of us have all known each other between 7-12 years. I’ve been in mostly serious relationships since I was 16, totaling two.

I reflect on things like this as I reenter the single world, looking for someone to turn to, and come up a little short. One is marrying her first (and last) boyfriend in a few months, another is living with her first (and likely last) boyfriend. The other one has never even touched a boy, and the bulk of my best friend’s experience has just been in the last year.

At this point, my best bet lies in Cosmopolitan magazine… where the “Sex & Love” section includes the sub-headers: Sex Positions, Sex Tips from Guys, Sex Articles, Sex & Dating Videos, Sex Advice, 31 Days of Hot Sex, and 77 Sex Positions in 77 Days!

*Assuming, of course, that they’re all into men.

Ironic universe, you are a jerk.

My former best friend of seven plus years completely cut all ties to me [somewhat] randomly a little over a year ago, zero explanation.

So I happen to stumble onto his website, which proceeds to FREEZE Firefox, and I’m stuck looking at his success and smug fucking face for five minutes. Seriously?

How strange it is, to log onto facebook and see that it’s my dead aunt’s birthday. I don’t even know how old she would have been this year, just that she suffered far too much and her time with us wasn’t nearly enough.

I’m always hoping for some stupid sign from her; if anyone would pull that crap, it’s her. I know her close friends have experienced some unusual happenings. And the idea of that freaks me out, but still I feel a pang of jealousy. Can’t my imagination just run wild to give me my own wisp of her?

She always said to merely keep an open mind.

It’s been a minute, and I feel a bit neglectful of you, tumblr. What’s happened since August?

My “valiant return” to the Midwest was more tail-between-my-legs than not. I witnessed two of my oldest friends get hitched. Two of my female friends from the past quickly stepped into the roles of BFFs, left vacant due to Africa and distance and boyfriends. A friend’s sister had a shotgun wedding, allowing me my first wedding photography experience. Smoking cessation, save for the occasional cigarette. Enjoyed seeing Tedeschi Trucks Band at the Riverside. Working with Expose Kenosha, I now have my photos displayed in a window on the 5800 block of 6th Avenue in Kenosha. The years continue sneaking by, and turning 24 crept up on me. Slowly learning about nutrition and fitness from a wonderful man. Trying to keep up with yoga, running, biking. Through 88nine, I won tickets to see The Head and The Heart at Turner Hall, marking my first time back at my favorite MKE venue. I donned a gaping chest wound for Ride of the Living Dead zombie pub crawl, and I only fell off my bike on the ride home. I finally established a facebook page for my photography endeavor. And on Saturday, I tried something new and truly saw the world for the first time.

Heading for the Great West!

A miniature adventure to quell my restlessness! Two days ago, my sister decided to move back to Wisconsin from Eugene, Oregon. I’ve been elected to retrieve her, and I fly out tomorrow morning. If I have it my way, we’ll start driving back on Saturday and go south through California to see Mount Shasta. From there, across Nevada to Salt Lake City and onward through western Colorado, stopping briefly in Steamboat Springs and Boulder (of course). After that, it’s just the crappy plains leg of the trip.

Dear followers, have you any suggestions for what to see/do between there and here?

Two hours of sleep. Two flights. Two hour layover. Two failed plans for transportation to Eugene. Two thousand miles away.

One bra. I only brought one bra for a 4+ day road trip.

Summary of Trip

Day 3, as told to friend:

eugene is neat. oregon’s mtns might top colorado’s as they are so lush—moss covers everything! columbia river gorge rocks. idaho is boring, and there were tumbleweeds. now in utah, where they cut entire lines from songs on the radio mentioning sex, and the mannequins at walmart had long skirts and turtlenecks, thank you mormon church. BOOM

February 6, 2012

I just spent the past 15 minutes wondering why so many posts on my dashboard mentioned Monday. “Duh, you guys, it’s Wednesday!”

Sinus infection = decrease in brain function, apparently.

What a great start to a week that just got two days longer!
