Today

Today I…

  • had lunch with Kaitlyn after not seeing her for two months—I have missed that girl
  • sat on the front porch, loungin’
  • walked down a billion steps to the beach
  • hit my head on the play ground, acquiring a bumped nose and not quite black eye
  • lost in a walk off down the pier to Kayla
  • didn’t get pushed in the lake!
  • enjoyed nature and Lake Michigan
  • love my friends that much more
  • smiled a lot
  • made this fantastic list to share the above with you

…these contemporary bands in this indie or American music vein, they present themselves as something you need to invest more in. You can’t go buy one song and say you’re a fan.

It has already been released that Something Corporate will reunite once again to play The Bamboozle Left Festival, but today it was officially announced that the Orange County, California band will be headlining The Bamboozle Chicago May 15th at the Charter One Pavilion.
The band formed in 1998 and signed to Drive-Thru Records which is the label many other up and coming artists back then called home such as Dashboard Confessional, HelloGoodbye, New Found Glory, and many more. Something Corporate released three studio albums, Ready…Break, Leaving Through the Window, and North plus Live at the Fillmore which consisted of tracks they recorded live on November 5, 2003 in San Francisco, California.
Something Corporate has not played a show together since Bamboozle 2007 and with the success of lead singer Andrew McMahon’s other band Jack’s Mannequin, a reunion show in Chicago was looking bleak. It was announced by Andrew McMahon during his sold out headlining show at the Chicago House of Blues a couple days ago, but became official on the Bamboozle Chicago website today. Something Corporate started their hiatus summer of 2004 after the success of their third studio album North hit number twenty-four on the Billboard Chart. In recent interviews McMahon has announced that Something Corporate will release a greatest hits album sometime this spring and re-record some older never released tracks. The band consists of Andrew McMahon (piano/vocals),  Josh Partington (guitar), Clutch (bass), Brian Ireland (drums).
The Bamboozle Chicago will also consist of Cobra Starship, 3OH!3, I Fight Dragons, Jump Smokers, Travis McCoy from the Gym Class Heros, plus more to be announced. Single day tickets can be purchased through The Bamboozle for only $35 or you can go straight to ticketmaster. Doors open on Saturday May 15th at 3:00pm and the show usually finishes around 11pm.[via]

Ohhhh shit, yes! I will definitely be returning for this.

Home (RAC Mix) - Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros

   “Jade?”
   “Alexander?”
“Do you remember that day you fell out of my window?”
“I sure do, you came jumping out after me.”
“Well, you fell on the concrete and nearly broke your ass and you were bleeding all over the place and I rushed you off to the hospital. Do you remember that?”
   “Yes, I do.”
“Well, there’s something I never told you about that night.”
   “What didn’t you tell me?”
“While you were sitting in the backseat smoking a cigarette you thought was going to be your last, I was falling deep, deeply in love with you and I never told you ‘til just now.”
   “Now I know.”

I’ve been in love with this song for a couple weeks; it doesn’t get old.

From Debris - matt pond PA

My instincts told me to avoid this album. It’s a favorite of this guy that I fell for, who made me feel broken, treated me like crap, then came back into my life for a second round. Bullshit aside, this is a fantastic fucking album; this song boasts gorgeous strings arrangements. I’m glad I usually ignore my instincts.

I saw this post by Tony, a tumblrite from my home-state, to which I smiled and thought “heck, I should GPOYW with all my Asics!” Then… I saw this. Holy. Shit.
Well, I proudly submit my humble collection of Onitsuka Tigers for your viewing, judgement, etc. My first pair, purchased in 2005, are those at left-center. All in all, I couldn’t be happier with their durability and comfort.

Ben Kweller - Sundress

How come I keep having dreams about a regular fellow whom I’ve never met? It’s totally irrelevant to this song, which I just happen to dig.
